Overview

Rand Group is experiencing rapid and sustained growth and we are currently looking for a Senior System & Network Admin for the Infrastructure Services team. This position works directly with the management team to provide infrastructure support and architect solutions for our clients. 

The Senior System and Network Admin is responsible for the design, planning, implementation, and highest level of performance tuning, troubleshooting, and recovery procedures for the internal network. This hands-on role is responsible for the entire internal network, including computer, storage, and networking. Several helpdesk related positions report to the role, but the individual is expected to be fully hands-on. Serves as a technical expert in the area of system administration for complex operating systems and environments for a rapidly growing Microsoft partner with a presence across North America (including offices in the US and Canada).

Responsibilities

  • The support of over 150 Windows virtualized servers
  • The support of over 100 end users and devices
  • Support for serveral facilities in Houston, Texas and Vancouver, Canada
  • Support of Skype for Business, Exchange, Domain services, Team Foundation Server (TFS), WSUS, SharePoint, CRM, and all other applications deployed with the environment
  • Maintain and support the datacenter environment, including Storage Area Network (SAN), blades and blade chassis, top of rack switches, firewalls, wireless, routing and switching
  • Responsible for maintaining and staffing the internal helpdesk ticketing system, providing escalation where necessary and appropriate
  • Performs troubleshooting of network, connectivity, server, storage, and application environment
  • Establishes guidelines and policies for installation and maintenance of software and computer systems
  • Supervisory capacity of operations staff including hiring, training, and evaluating 
  • Oversees the backup strategy for the organization, including performing periodic and scheduled recovery and failover tests. Documents procedures and programs for backup and recovery of systems and applications
  • Defines procedures to ensure the security and high availability of internal resources
  • Ensures high availability and acceptable levels of performance of mission critical computer resources
  • Identifies methods, solutions and provides project leadership and management in order to provide a high level of service to the end users of the organization
  • Oversight of all Infrastructure equipment across the organization, including networking devices, datacenter, etc.
  • Maintains wireless devices and IP camera security systems deployed at various sites
  • Monitor storage utilization and performance, making recommendations where appropriate to maintain stability and performance

Qualifications

  • At least fifteen (15) years supporting larger (250+node) systems and networks in a senior hands-on role
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with networking technologies including working with and supporting Cisco networking equipment routing protocals, VLANS, site to site VLANs, ASA, SSL VPNs (Cisco Anyconnect),MPLS and Metro-E dedicated circuits, subnetting, wireless, QoS and VoIP technologies
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with servers and compute platforms, including virtualization (Hyper-V), HP blades, clustering
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with storage networks (SAN) in particular HP 3Par storage platforms
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Exchange Server, including management, configuration, performance troubleshooting, recovery and other relevant aspects
  • Advanced knowledge of Cisco Phone Systems including UCM, call routing, IP phone support
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server including management, configuration, performance troubleshooting, recovery and other relevany aspects
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Domain Management including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, WSUS amd computer imaging
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint and Microsoft CRM
